A food processing plant in the Roveri industrial zone of Bologna is taking on production operatives for the autumn and winter peak. The site portions, packs and labels chilled ready meals and cured meat products for retail chains. The seasonal contract runs from October to February.
About role
You work in a chilled room at about 4 degrees. You feed the slicing and portioning machine, weigh the portions against the target on the checkweigher and place them in trays on the packing belt. You change the film reel and the label roll, check that the date code prints correctly and set aside any pack outside the weight tolerance. Hand washing, hairnet and glove changes follow the hygiene plan and are recorded. You clean the line at the end of the shift. Shifts are 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, Monday to Saturday on a rota.
Who's a fit?
Compulsory schooling completed, no previous food industry experience required
Ability to work a full shift in a chilled room at about 4 degrees
Care with hygiene rules, since the plant works to a HACCP plan
Willingness to rotate between the morning and the afternoon shift
Steady hands for repetitive weighing and tray filling
English at A2 for the hygiene instructions and the line briefing
Availability on Saturdays during the peak weeks

Promotion terms
Operatives who complete a full season are called back first and can train on the checkweigher and the labelling machine, which is the entry to the line setter role.
Work environment
The production area is a chilled hall with washable walls, stainless steel benches and a daily sanitation cycle. A thermal jacket, hairnet, safety shoes and food grade gloves are mandatory and changed on entry.
