Warehouse Operative / Forklift Driver

You spend most of the shift moving goods in and out of a distribution warehouse, loading and unloading trucks at the bay doors. The forklift work is real driving, not just five minutes a day: stacking pallets up to the top racking, feeding the picking lines, and keeping the loading area clear. When the truck rush dies down you scan and book stock in on the handheld, wrap pallets, and help the team count what came in against the delivery notes. Shifts run in two patterns, an early 06:00 to 14:00 and a late 14:00 to 22:00, on a weekly rotation. Saturdays come up roughly once a month when a big container lands.

You start at 610 net a month. Once you have shown six steady months on the forklift and the stock counts add up, the employer moves you toward 710 net. Drivers who pick up the goods-in checks and help train new starters get there fastest.

The site is a covered distribution warehouse with concrete floors, marked forklift lanes and proper racking up to four levels. It can get cold near the bay doors in winter and warm under the roof in summer, so you dress for the day. Boots, gloves and a hi-vis vest are provided and worn at all times.
