MIG/MAG Welder
Metal Industry — Maribor, Slovenia
P-229 · Basic (A2) · 4 openings
A metal fabrication company near Maribor needs steady hands on the MIG/MAG line. You weld, you get paid above the local rate, and the schedule is set weeks ahead so you can plan your life.
About role
Most of your day is spent on steel and structural assemblies, running MIG/MAG (135/136) on plate from roughly 3 to 12 mm. You read the shop drawing, tack the parts in the jig, then lay the full pass and check it against the weld symbols. Work runs in two shifts, mornings 6 to 14 and afternoons 14 to 22, rotating weekly, with the occasional Saturday when the order book is full. You grind, clean, and prep your own joints, and you keep the wire feeder and torch in good order. A welding supervisor signs off the first piece before you go into the run.
Who's a fit?
Hands-on MIG/MAG experience on carbon steel
Can read basic shop drawings and weld symbols
Comfortable welding in flat and horizontal positions, vertical a plus
Knows how to grind, prep and clean a joint
Valid welding certificate (EN ISO 9606-1) is welcome but the employer can arrange testing
Steady attendance and willing to rotate shifts
Benefits
Furnished accommodation arranged near the plant, with the first month covered
Transport from the housing to the shop floor every shift
Hot meal during the shift
Help with residence and work paperwork for non-EU workers
Protective gear and welding kit supplied
Promotion terms
You start at 1490 net per month. Once you pass the in-house weld test and hold a clean run for a few months, pay moves toward 1710 net. Welders who pick up TIG or take on first-piece checks for the line move up faster.
Work environment
The shop is an indoor hall with extraction arms over each bay and tiered lighting, so the air stays workable even on a full run. It gets warm in summer and you are on your feet for most of the shift. The crews are small, six to eight welders per shift, and the supervisor is on the floor with you, not in an office.
