Site Electrician

You pull cable in trays and conduit, fit boxes and trunking, terminate in the distribution board and install sockets, switches and luminaires to the layout drawing. Before handover you test insulation and loop impedance, check the residual current device and fill in the measurement sheet that goes with the certificate. Work is planned floor by floor with the site manager, and you mark on the drawing what was actually built. The working day is 08:00 to 16:30 from Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday before a handover.

Vocational training as an electrician or equal site experience

At least two years of installation work on building sites

Reading an electrical layout and a single line diagram

Use of an insulation tester and a loop impedance tester

Care with the order of work when other trades share the floor

Functional English for equipment manuals and site meetings

A category B driving licence is an advantage

Net salary from 1430 up to 1630 EUR per month

Electricians who take the national qualification lead a two man team and later run a floor of their own with the measurement paperwork. The company pays the examination fee.

Building sites at various stages, some without heating in winter, with dust and noise from other trades. A helmet, safety shoes, gloves, glasses and a high visibility jacket are mandatory and a site induction is given before the first day.
