A steel fabrication workshop in the Porto Romano zone north of Durres is adding MIG/MAG welders to its structural line. The shop builds hall frames, stairs and access platforms for contractors in Albania and ships part of the work to Italy. The contract is permanent from the first day.
About role
You set up the jig, tack the assembly and run MIG/MAG fill passes on steel from 3 to 12 mm, working from the drawing and the weld symbol given for each joint. Before striking an arc you check the wire feed, the gas flow and the earth clamp. After welding you grind the seams that will be painted, measure the frame with a tape and a square, mark the piece with your own number and tell the foreman about any porosity. Two shifts run 07:00-15:00 and 15:00-23:00 with a weekly rotation, and Saturday is voluntary and paid on top.
Who's a fit?
Trade school in welding or metalwork, or equal practice
At least two years in MIG/MAG on steel above 3 mm
Reading a fabrication drawing and weld symbols
Confident with an angle grinder, a square and a tape
Willingness to rotate two shifts every week
Basic English for machine menus and safety labels

Promotion terms
Welders who pass the fillet and butt test move to the structural team within a year, and the workshop pays for the EN ISO 9606 examination at a testing house in Tirana.
Work environment
A covered hall with an extraction arm over every bay and a crane for the heavy frames. A leather apron and gloves, a self darkening mask, safety shoes and ear protection are provided and replaced when worn.
