A third party logistics operator in the Segrate zone east of Milan is taking on warehouse workers for its ambient goods hall. The site handles inbound containers, picking for retail stores and evening despatch. The posting starts as a six month agency contract with a permanent option after it.
About role
You unload sea containers and trailers, check the pallet count against the delivery note and put the goods away with a pallet truck. On the picking shift you work from a voice terminal or a handheld scanner, build mixed pallets for store orders, wrap them and stage them at the despatch doors. Shortages and damaged cartons are reported to the shift leader before the pallet leaves the aisle. Shifts run 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation, Monday to Friday, with Saturday overtime in the weeks before a public holiday.
Who's a fit?
Primary school completed and the ability to read a delivery note
Willingness to work a rotating two shift pattern, Monday to Friday
Physical fitness for repeated lifting up to 20 kg
Basic numeracy for counting cartons and pallet positions
English at A2 for safety instructions and the shift handover
A forklift licence is welcome but not required, training is given on site
Punctual attendance, since the despatch window is fixed

Promotion terms
Workers who obtain the forklift licence move onto the reach truck and the inbound bay, which is the usual step towards a team leader role on the picking shift.
Work environment
The hall is a covered ambient warehouse with painted aisle markings, pedestrian walkways separated from the truck lanes and gas heating in winter. A high visibility vest, safety shoes and cut resistant gloves are mandatory inside.
