About role
You weld steel profiles and plate from 3 to 20 mm on jigs, working to the drawing and to the weld symbol given for each joint. The shift starts with a check of the wire feed, the gas flow and the earth clamp, then tacking, the fill passes and grinding the seam where it will be painted or galvanised. You measure the frame with a tape and a square before it leaves the jig and stamp your own work. Porosity or undercut goes to the welding foreman before the part moves on.
