Food Production Operator

You work one position on a bottling line: feeding preforms, watching the filler and the capper, reading the date code on the sleeve, or building the pallet at the end of the line. Every half hour you take a bottle off the line and check the fill level, the cap torque and the print, then write the reading on the line sheet. When the line stops you clear the jam, call maintenance if the fault is mechanical, and record the downtime. Three shifts run 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00 with a weekly rotation.

Primary school completed, no trade qualification needed

Operators who learn the filler and the labeller move to line setter within about eighteen months, and the plant pays for the food hygiene certificate.

A bright hall kept at 18 to 22 degrees, tiled floors that are washed between shifts, and ear protection at the blow moulder. Hairnet, coat, gloves and safety shoes are mandatory and supplied by the employer.
