Food Production Operator

You weigh and add ingredients to the kettle against the recipe sheet, follow the cooking programme and the stated times, and take the product to the filler when the temperature is reached. On the filling line you watch the seal and the weight, pull a sample every hour and record it. Between products the line is cleared, cleaned and signed off before the next recipe starts. You record cook temperatures and cold room readings on the control sheet. Three shifts rotate weekly, including nights.

Basic schooling and the right to work in Portugal

Food plant or kitchen experience is welcome, training is given

Able to weigh accurately and to follow a recipe sheet exactly

Comfortable with hot kettles and with chilled rooms in the same shift

Willing to rotate three shifts, including nights

Basic English for recipe sheets, screens and safety signs

Net salary from 900 up to 990 EUR per month

Permanent contract with Social Security from the first day

Shift supplement on the afternoon and night rotations

Two meals on every worked day in the plant canteen

Company transport from Setubal, Palmela and Montijo on every shift

Paid HACCP, allergen and machine safety training

Work clothing, hair net, gloves and non slip safety shoes provided

Operators who run the kettle alone and keep the control sheet clean move to process operator on the cooking area, which is paid at the higher grade, and from there to shift leader over a team of fifteen.

A food plant with steam kettles, enclosed fillers and chilled rooms at 4 degrees, with washable floors, drains at every station and a hygiene lock at the entrance. Hair net, gloves and non slip shoes are mandatory and are supplied by the employer.
