An electrical installation company working from the Boavista area of Porto is recruiting industrial electricians. The work is distribution boards, cable trays and machine connections in factories and office buildings across the district. Permanent contract and a fixed team van.
About role
You install and connect: tray and conduit set out from the drawing, cable pulled and marked at both ends, distribution boards fitted, breakers and contactors wired to the schedule, and machines connected and rotated for direction. Before handover you test insulation resistance, earth continuity and loop impedance and record the readings. Faults on site are traced with a meter and cleared the same day where possible. The day runs 08:00-17:00 with a standby rota one week in five.
Who's a fit?
Trade school in electrical installation or equal practice
At least three years on industrial or building installations
Reads a single line diagram and a board schedule
Confident with an insulation tester and a loop impedance meter
Aware of lock out and tag out before any work on a live board
English at a working level for equipment manuals

Promotion terms
Electricians who commission a board on their own take the team leader role on a site of their own inside two years. The company pays for the high voltage module and for automation training on programmable controllers.
Work environment
Factory halls and office buildings under fit out, with scaffold towers, platforms and a site cabin for tools and instruments. Helmet, insulated gloves, glasses and safety boots are mandatory and are supplied by the employer.
