Heavy Goods Driver

You take the loading sheet at the depot, check the pallet count and the securing before you leave, and drive a fixed route with three or four drops a day. At each drop you hand over the delivery note, get it signed and record any refused pallet on the terminal. The tachograph rules set the day: nine hours driving, the breaks taken in full, and the card downloaded at the end of the week. Daily checks on tyres, lights and oil belong to the driver, and workshop faults go to the fleet office the same day.

Category C licence and a valid CAM certificate

Willing to spend two or three nights a week away from base

Net salary from 1050 up to 1155 EUR per month

Drivers with a clean tachograph record and two years on national routes move to the international lines into Spain and France, which carry a higher daily allowance. ADR training is paid for those who want the tanker work.

Modern tractor units with air suspension, air conditioning and a parking heater, loaded and unloaded at covered docks. High visibility jacket, safety shoes and gloves are mandatory on every yard and are supplied by the employer.
