You set out the wall from the drawing and the corner profiles, lay block and brick to the line, and keep the courses level and plumb as the wall rises. You form the openings, set the lintels, leave the chases the electrician and the plumber need, and point the joints before the mortar sets. Scaffolding is raised with the wall by your own crew and checked before use. You clean the face and clear the working platform at the end of the day. The site works 07:00-16:00 from Monday to Friday, with Saturday paid separately.

Trade school in masonry or at least three years on the trowel

A bricklayer who takes on setting out and the material order for a house becomes a crew leader within two years, and the contractor fills its site foreman posts from the crews.
