CNC Milling Operator

You clamp the blank in the vice or on the fixture, set the workpiece zero with an edge finder, load the tools and call up the programme for the order. The first piece is measured with a caliper, a micrometer and a height gauge against the drawing, and you correct the tool length and diameter offsets until it is inside tolerance. Then you run the batch, check every fifth piece, change a cutter when the finish dulls and log the count on the job card. Deburring is yours. The shift is 06:00-14:00 with an afternoon shift added when the order book is full.

Trade school in mechanics or metalwork, or equal practice

At least two years on a three axis CNC mill

Reading a part drawing with tolerances and datum symbols

Confident with a caliper, a micrometer and a height gauge

Able to set the workpiece zero and correct offsets unaided

Basic English for the control menus and the tool catalogue

Willing to take an afternoon shift when the order book is full

Net salary from 760 up to 836 EUR per month

Permanent contract after a three month trial period

An operator who learns to write and edit the programme at the control moves onto the setter rate, which the shop pays at the top of its scale, and the supplier course is paid by the employer.

An enclosed milling cell with chip conveyors, coolant mist extraction and a temperature controlled measuring room with a granite plate. Safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes are mandatory and are supplied.
