Production Operator

You work one station on the line: you fit the part to the fixture, seat the screws to the torque set on the driver and confirm the step on the screen before the unit moves on. Every hour you take one piece out for a dimension check with a gauge and write the result on the control card. A fault stops your station, is marked with a red tag and goes to the line leader. Three shifts rotate weekly, 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00, with two paid breaks on each.

Completed primary school, the plant trains on the line

Operators who learn three stations become line stand ins and are paid a supplement for it, and the setter post is filled from that group after about two years.

A clean, heated hall at about twenty degrees with anti fatigue mats at every station and extraction above the soldering benches. Gloves, safety shoes and ear protection are mandatory and issued by the employer.
