Hydraulic Press Operator

You run a single hydraulic press with a fitted die, feed sheet blanks by hand into the two hand control, take the drawn part out, and stack it in the KLT box by the machine. Every twentieth piece goes to the bench for a caliper check on depth and a burr check on the flange. You watch the tonnage gauge, call the setter when the die needs greasing or the part shows a wrinkle, and never reach past the light curtain. Shifts are 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 in a weekly rotation and you report to the press shop leader.

Finished trade school, machine or metal direction

At least one year on a press, punching machine or similar equipment

Confident with a caliper and a simple go and no go gauge

Discipline around two hand controls and light curtains

Willing to rotate two shifts and to stand for the whole shift

Basic English for the machine menu and the safety plates

Net salary from 715 up to 787 EUR per month

Permanent contract, trial period of three months

The plant trains its own die setters, and an operator who learns to change and align a die is paid as a setter within eighteen months. Two of the four current setters started on the same presses.

A concrete floor hall with light curtains on every press, oil trays under the machines and marked forklift lanes. Ear plugs, cut resistant gloves, overalls and safety shoes with a steel cap are worn on the whole shop floor.
