CNC Machine Operator

You load the blank, start the programme from the control and watch the first piece through the cut for chatter, tool wear and chip colour. The first piece is measured with a caliper and a micrometer against the drawing, and you enter the tool offset yourself when a dimension drifts. You change inserts when the surface tells you to, keep the coolant level up and clear chips from the bed. Two shifts run 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation, and you report to the shop foreman.

Trade school in machining or equal practice

At least two years on a CNC mill or lathe

Reading a technical drawing with tolerances

Confident with a caliper and a micrometer

Entering tool offsets on a Fanuc or Siemens control

Willing to rotate two shifts

Basic English for control menus and tool catalogues

Net salary from 754 up to 904 EUR per month

Permanent contract from the first day

Work clothing, gloves, glasses and safety shoes provided

Operators who measure cleanly and hold the tolerance move to setting the cell, and from there to writing simple programmes at the control. The shop pays the course fee.

A heated hall with enclosed machines, chip conveyors and a separate measuring room with a surface plate. Glasses, gloves and safety shoes are supplied, and hearing protection is available at the saw.
