A metal workshop in the Donje Medjurovo zone south of Nis is taking on metal fitters for steel doors, staircases and railings. The shop works to order for construction firms across southern Serbia. Training on the shop's own jigs is paid.
About role
You read the drawing, cut profiles to length on the band saw, drill them and take off the sharp edges, then assemble the frame on the jig with clamps and tack welds. You check the diagonals and the squareness before the piece goes to the welder, and you fit the hinges and the lock case after painting. At the end of the shift you clean the machines, return the tools to the board and write the finished pieces into the work order. Work is one shift, 07:00-15:00, and overtime is agreed in advance.
Who's a fit?
Trade school for a metal fitter or equal practice
At least two years in a workshop making steel structures
Reading a drawing and taking a measurement from it
Band saw, column drill and angle grinder
Tack welding is an advantage, training is provided
Careful work to a millimetre on frames and hinges
Basic English for tool and fitting catalogues

Promotion terms
Fitters who read drawings well take over the jig setting for new products, and later the measuring visits to a site before a staircase is made.
Work environment
A workshop with an overhead crane, a fixed saw station and extraction at the grinding bench. Glasses, gloves, ear protection and safety shoes are supplied by the employer.
