Furniture Carpenter

You work chipboard and MDF into carcases: taking the cut list from the drawing, running the panel saw, edge banding, drilling the hinge cups and the shelf holes on the multi boring machine, and assembling the unit with dowels, confirmats and eccentric fittings. You fit hinges and drawer runners, square the carcase before it is packed, and mark every package with the order number for the fitter. Damaged panels go back to the saw with a note. The workshop works one shift, 07:00-15:00, and Saturday only when a delivery date is close.

A carpenter who takes over the cutting plan and the material order becomes bench leader in about two years. The workshop pays the course on CNC nesting when the new machine arrives.

A dry hall with dust extraction at every machine, panel trolleys instead of carrying by hand and a separate assembly bay. Ear protection, gloves, a dust mask and safety shoes are supplied by the employer.
