Greenhouse Vegetable Worker
Agriculture · Bari, Italy
JB-580 · Basic (A2) · 12 openings
A vegetable grower between Bari and Canosa di Puglia is taking on greenhouse workers for the autumn and winter cycle. Tomatoes and courgettes under plastic, a seasonal contract under the agricultural agreement, and a room on the farm.
About role
The day starts on the rows: planting, tying, thinning and taking off the side shoots, then opening or closing the vents as the weather turns. Picking goes into crates that travel straight to the packing shed. Picking is by colour grade, so you learn what leaves the farm and what stays another day. You check the drip lines each morning, report a blocked dripper or a torn sheet, and help clear and sterilise a tunnel between cycles. Hours are 06:00-13:00, six days, with an earlier start in warm weeks, and the field foreman sets the row order.
Who's a fit?
No qualification needed, the work is taught on the row
One season in field or greenhouse work is welcome
Fit for bending, standing and warm air under plastic
Careful hands, because fruit is graded and bruises are rejected
Six day week during the cycle, with Sunday off
Basic English or Italian to follow the foreman
Benefits
Net salary from 1120 up to 1235 EUR per month
Six month seasonal contract under the agricultural agreement
Overtime and Saturday hours paid at the agreement rate
A room on the farm at 60 EUR a month, water and power included

Promotion terms
Workers who learn grading and the packing line stay through the spring cycle on a second contract, and a few move on to the irrigation and greenhouse climate job.
