Construction Site Helper

You carry and stack block, bar and formwork panels where the trades need them, mix and barrow mortar, strip and clean shuttering after the pour, and keep the floor swept and the routes clear. On concrete days you help the pump crew, hold the vibrator hose and wash the tools down at the end. The crew leader gives out the tasks at 07:00 and checks the floor before you leave. Work is 07:00-16:00 from Monday to Friday, Saturday to 13:00 when the pour plan requires it and paid at the overtime rate.

Site hands who stay through a build move to the formwork or the steel fixing crew, where the day rate is higher, and the contractor pays the trade course at the vocational centre.

An open site with netted scaffolding, a fenced perimeter, a covered rest container and drinking water on every floor. Helmet, boots, gloves and a harness above two metres are mandatory and supplied.
