Construction Painter

You prepare and paint interior walls and ceilings in new flats: filling, sanding, taping the edges, laying the primer and then two coats of emulsion with a roller or a spray gun. On facade weeks you work from scaffolding, cut in around windows and finish the plinth in a washable paint. You mix colours from the tint card, keep a note of how much each flat used, and hand the flat over to the site engineer for the snag walk. Work runs 07:00-16:00 with a one hour break, five days a week, and the crew leader plans the following week on Friday.

Three years painting flats, offices or public buildings

A painter who keeps his flats clean and on time takes a crew of three within two seasons, and the firm trains its own leaders for decorative and washable finishes.

Occupied floors are closed to other trades while you paint, with sheeting on the screed and lamps on every landing. Mask, gloves and safety shoes are mandatory and the firm hands them out.
