Truck Driver

You collect the truck at the yard in the Zitnjak industrial zone, check tyres, lights and the trailer coupling, and drive grain loads between silos, mills and the port terminals. At each silo you open the tipping trailer, watch the load go in, take the weighbridge ticket and hand it over at delivery. Some runs continue to northern Italy. Working days run Monday to Friday with start times set by the dispatcher the evening before; on longer runs you sleep in the cab for one or two nights, and weekends are mostly free. You report to the dispatcher by phone.

Valid CE driving licence

Code 95 driver qualification, or willingness to obtain it at the employer's cost

At least one year driving articulated trucks

Working knowledge of the digital tachograph and driving time rules

Willingness to sleep in the cab on some weekday runs

Basic English for delivery papers and phone contact with dispatch

Net salary from 1690 up to 1900 EUR per month

Permanent contract with full pension and health insurance

Code 95 training and the card paid by the employer

Shared housing near the yard

Daily allowance on runs abroad, paid under Croatian rules

Recent trucks with automatic gearboxes and a sleeper cab

Weekends mostly at home

After the six month review, drivers who take over the regular runs to northern Italy with a clean damage record move to 1900 EUR net a month.

Most of the day is spent in a modern cab with air conditioning; at silos and mills you work outdoors among dust and moving loaders. A high visibility vest, safety shoes and a dust mask are provided.
