A joinery workshop in the Librobacken industrial area in northern Uppsala is taking on furniture carpenters for fitted interiors. The shop makes reception desks, library shelving and shop fittings in veneered board and solid ash, mostly one off pieces to an architect's drawing. Employment is permanent.
About role
You work from the shop drawing, cut board on the beam saw, edge band, drill for fittings and assemble the carcass square and flat. Solid parts are planed, thicknessed and jointed, then sanded through the grits before lacquer. You fit hinges and drawer runners, check every door for an even gap and mark the parts for delivery. Working hours are 06:45 to 15:30 Monday to Friday and you report to the workshop leader.
Who's a fit?
Joinery or cabinetmaking training, or at least three years in a workshop
Experience of veneered board, edge banding and solid wood
Reading a shop drawing with fittings and hardware called out
Confident on a beam saw, a spindle moulder and a thicknesser
Accurate to a millimetre on gaps and reveals
Careful with dust extraction and machine guarding
Basic English for hardware catalogues and lacquer data sheets

Promotion terms
Carpenters who learn to read and correct the shop drawings move to preparation work and to fitting on site, where the workshop installs what it has built.
Work environment
A dry heated workshop with extraction at every machine, a separate sanding room and a ventilated spray booth. Hearing protection, safety glasses, dust mask and safety shoes are supplied by the employer.
