Construction Labourer

You prepare and backfill trenches, lay bedding sand, set kerbstones to the string line, and handle material with a dumper and a plate compactor. You also keep the site clean, sort waste into the right containers and help the machine operator with banksman duties. The working day is 06:45 to 16:00 Monday to Friday and you report to the site foreman, who runs a safety briefing every morning before the first machine starts.

Completed compulsory schooling, no trade certificate required

Some experience of outdoor manual work in any trade

Physical stamina for a full day of lifting and digging

Able to follow a string line and a levelling staff

Willingness to work outdoors through a Swedish winter

Basic English for the morning briefing, Swedish taught on site

ID06 card and safety induction, both arranged by the employer

Net salary from 2156 up to 2372 EUR per month

Fixed term contract under the Byggavtalet with a written end date

Labourers who stay through a full season are offered the machine operator course for dumper and mini excavator, which moves them into the higher grade of the same agreement.

An open civil engineering site with machine traffic, noise and mud, worked through rain, frost and snow. Helmet, high visibility clothing, safety boots, gloves and ear protection are mandatory and supplied.
