Waiter

You work the floor of a mid-size restaurant that fills up at lunch and again at dinner. The day means setting tables, taking orders on a handheld POS, carrying plates and drinks from the pass, and clearing as you go so the table is ready for the next guests. You pour wine and beer, run the coffee machine for cortados and cafés con leche, and keep an eye on which tables need bread or water without being asked. Split shifts are common here: a midday service from roughly 13:00 to 16:00, a break, then dinner from 20:00 onward, with weekends being the heaviest. You will also reset the dining room at the end of the night, restock napkins and cutlery, and cash out your section with the floor manager.

Some restaurant or bar floor experience, even a season or two

Comfortable on your feet for long shifts, carrying trays and stacked plates

Functional English (B1) to handle tourist tables in Barcelona

Basic Spanish helps; Catalan is a plus but not required

You start at 1410 net a month. Once you know the menu, the wine list and the rhythm of the floor, pay moves up toward 1620 net, usually within the first year. Waiters who run their own section well and train newcomers are the first ones considered for head waiter.

It is a real restaurant floor, so it gets loud and warm at peak and you are moving the whole service. The kitchen, the bar and the dining room work tightly together, and the manager runs a tidy section rather than chaos. You get your break between shifts and a staff meal to sit down for.
