Warehouse Operative

You unload pallets from incoming trucks and check the goods against the delivery note. Most of the day is picking orders by hand from the racking and stacking them on pallets for dispatch. You wrap finished pallets, label them and move them to the loading bay. Scanning each box with a handheld scanner keeps the stock count right. Shifts run six in the morning to two, or two to ten at night, five days a week with the weekend off. Pallet trucks are hand operated, so there is real lifting involved.

Health insurance from day one

Start at 890 euro net a month. Learn the scanner and the picking routes well and you move up to team picker, which pays 1030 euro net. Most people reach that inside the first year.

The warehouse is a large covered hall with high racking and concrete floors. It is heated in winter but stays cool, so warm clothing helps on the early shift. Boots, gloves and a hi-vis vest are provided and worn at all times.
