Bricklayer

You set out and lay blockwork and brickwork to the string line, build reinforced lintels and window openings to the drawing, and keep the courses level and plumb with a spirit level and a laser. You mix mortar to the stated ratio, point the joints, and render internal walls where the schedule calls for it. Before the floor is closed you check the openings against the dimensions on the plan and report any deviation to the site manager. Work runs from Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00, with paid Saturdays in the summer season.

Vocational certificate as a bricklayer, or five years on site in the trade

Confident with a spirit level, a plumb line, a string and a laser

Reads a floor plan and a section, and sets out from a datum

Knows mortar ratios and the correct build up of a cavity wall

Works safely on a scaffold and checks it before stepping on

Willing to work paid Saturdays in the building season

Basic English for material names and safety instructions

Net salary from 1015 up to 1116 EUR per month

Permanent contract with full social and health cover from the first day

Paid overtime on Saturdays during the building season

Daily travel allowance to sites outside Debrecen

Hot meal ordered to the site canteen container

A bricklayer who keeps a crew of three to the programme is given the crew leader seat on the next house, with the setting out and the material orders that come with it.

Outdoor work on residential sites through the building season, on ground level and on scaffold up to three storeys. Helmet, boots, gloves, knee pads and a high visibility vest are mandatory and supplied.
