Furniture Joiner

You read the cutting list and the assembly drawing, take the panels from the beam saw, run the edge bander and clean the edge by hand where the machine leaves a mark. You drill the holes on the jig, dry fit the carcase, check the diagonals and only then glue and clamp. Doors and drawers are hung and adjusted so the gaps are even, and the piece is sanded and packed for delivery. Tooling changes and dust extraction checks are part of the shift. The day is 07:30 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday.

Vocational training as a joiner or at least two years in a workshop

Reading a cutting list and an assembly drawing

Joiners who work from a drawing without help take on bespoke orders and the first piece for a new model. The workshop also trains joiners to set and run the CNC nesting machine, which pays a higher rate.

A heated hall with extraction at every machine and a separate spray booth behind glass. Ear protection, glasses, gloves and safety shoes are worn, and a dust mask is issued for sanding.
