CNC Lathe Operator

You set the machine for the job, load the programme, fit the jaws and the tools, set the offsets and cut a first part. The first part is measured with a caliper and a micrometer against the drawing and shown to the inspector before the batch runs. Through the batch you check every tenth part, correct the offsets for tool wear and change inserts when the finish drops. Shifts run 07:00-15:00 and 15:00-23:00 on a two week rotation.

Technical school certificate in machining or two years on CNC lathes

Reads a technical drawing with tolerances and surface finish marks

Confident with a caliper, a micrometer and a bore gauge

Able to edit offsets and to recognise a worn insert

Knowledge of Fanuc or Siemens controls

Basic English for the control menus and the tool catalogue

Residence and work authorisation for Greece, arranged before arrival

Net salary from 1250 up to 1375 EUR per month

Permanent contract after a three month trial period

Full EFKA insurance and the Greek fourteen salary year

Paid supplement for the afternoon shift

Company bus from Elefsina, Aspropyrgos and Ano Liosia

Paid training on programming at the control after the first year

An operator who learns to write and edit the programme at the control becomes a setter, which carries a fixed allowance and first choice of shift. From there the workshop promotes to its own inspection bench.

An enclosed machine shop with chip conveyors, coolant mist extraction over each lathe and a temperature controlled measuring room. Safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes are worn in the whole shop and are supplied by the employer.
