A steel fabrication workshop in the Sindos metalworking zone is hiring MIG and MAG welders for tanks, frames and conveyor structures. Plate runs from three to twelve millimetres and the shop works to drawings supplied by industrial customers in Greece and Bulgaria. The contract is permanent and the test piece is welded on the first day.
About role
You read the fabrication drawing, mark and tack the parts on the jig, then weld the seams in the position the drawing calls for, flat, horizontal or vertical up. Wire, gas mix and current are set for the plate thickness and checked against the welding procedure sheet. After welding you grind the seam, check it visually and with a gauge, and mark your stamp on the part. Shifts run 07:00-15:00 from Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime.
Who's a fit?
Technical school certificate in welding or three years at the torch
Confident with MIG and MAG on plate from three to twelve millimetres
Reads a fabrication drawing and a welding symbol
Able to tack on a jig and control distortion
Grinds and checks his own seams before they go to inspection
Basic English for the procedure sheet and the machine display
Residence and work authorisation for Greece, arranged before arrival

Promotion terms
A welder who passes the European certification for vertical and overhead positions moves to the pressure vessel bench, where the rate is set higher. The workshop trains its own fitters and inspectors from the welding floor.
Work environment
A high roofed hall with local extraction at every bench, welding screens between stations and a separate grinding booth. An automatic helmet, leather apron, gloves and boots are supplied, and fume extraction is checked twice a year.
