Production Operator

You feed empty containers to the filler, watch the fill level and the seal, and take a sample from the line every half hour for the weight check. Labels are changed at each product changeover, and you clear the reject chute and record every stoppage with its reason. At the end of the shift the line is stripped, washed down and handed over to the next operator with the log signed. Shifts run 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00 on a weekly rotation.

Nine years of school completed, no trade qualification needed

An operator who learns the changeover and the weight check becomes a line setter within two years, and the plant fills its shift leader posts from that group. The forklift licence course is paid by the employer.

A clean, well lit production hall kept at eighteen degrees, with mats at each station and ear protection on the filling lines. Hair net, coat, gloves and safety shoes are worn in the whole production area and are supplied by the employer.
