Warehouse Worker

You take full pallets off the end of the bottling line, wrap them and move them into the finished goods area with a hand pallet truck. The day covers labelling each pallet with its batch number, entering it into the stock list, feeding empty pallets and cardboard back to the line, and loading the distribution trucks in the afternoon. In the peak weeks the line runs two shifts, 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, and you rotate weekly. Every Friday you count the finished stock with the storekeeper and report short or damaged pallets to the shift leader the same day.

School leaving certificate, a first job in a warehouse is fine

Workers who finish the season with a clean stock record are called back first the next year, and the plant pays the forklift licence for those who stay on through the winter.

A covered warehouse beside the bottling hall, so it is noisy near the line and cool in the finished goods bay. Ear protection, gloves, safety shoes and a high visibility vest are supplied by the employer.
