Forklift Driver

You take pallets off the trailer, weigh and label them, and lift them into racking up to nine metres with a reach truck. Through the shift you feed the picking aisles, move full pallets to the dispatch lanes and keep the battery charging plan. Before every shift you run the checklist on the truck, forks, chains, horn and brakes, and you sign it. Faults are reported at once and the truck is taken out of use. Shifts run 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.

At least one year of driving in a racked warehouse

Able to judge load weight and centre of gravity before lifting

Drivers who take the reach truck and the order picker licences move to the high bay aisles, where the shift supplement is higher. The warehouse trains its own shift leaders from among its operators.

A level concrete floor, marked pedestrian lanes separated by barriers, and a charging bay with forced ventilation for the lead acid batteries. Helmet, safety shoes and a high visibility vest are worn in the whole warehouse.
