About role
You take the tractor unit and trailer from the yard, check the tyres, the lights, the coupling and the load securing before you leave, and record the walk round in the vehicle book. At the terminal you supervise the loading, secure the container with the twist locks or strap the tautliner load, and check the weight on the papers against the axle load. On the road you keep the tachograph clean, respect the driving and rest rules, and hand the CMR and the delivery notes to dispatch on return. Nights out are planned, not improvised, and are paid as a daily allowance.
