Restaurant Waiter

You open your section, lay the tables, check the cutlery and the glassware, and read the daily specials with the kitchen before service. Through service you greet guests, take orders on the handheld, describe dishes and allergens, run drinks from the bar and food from the pass, and clear between courses. You close the bill, take card or cash, and balance your till against the report at the end of the shift. Two shifts run 10:00-18:00 and 16:00-24:00, with the rota published two weeks ahead.

Catering school or at least two years on a restaurant floor

Carrying three plates and clearing a table cleanly

Confident with a handheld terminal and a card machine

Able to describe dishes and allergens from memory

Evening and weekend shifts in rotation

English at conversational level, the city has many visitors

Valid food handling health record

Net salary from 760 up to 836 EUR per month

Tips shared by the whole shift, paid weekly on top of the salary

Permanent contract after a three month trial period

One hot staff meal per shift and coffee during service

Rota published two weeks ahead, two free days per week

Paid wine and service training with the restaurant manager

Uniform supplied, washed and pressed by the house

A waiter who learns the wine list and the cash report takes a section of his own and then the shift leader post, which the restaurant fills from the floor. The sommelier course is paid after two years.

A dining room with a bar, a service station per section and a terrace in the warm months, with the kitchen pass opening onto the floor. Non slip shoes are required and the uniform is supplied by the house.
