A steel fabrication shop in the Mlaka port and shipyard zone in Rijeka is taking on MIG/MAG welders for ship sections and steel structures. The shop works for yards on the Kvarner coast and for Italian customers. The contract is permanent.
About role
You weld plate and profile in MIG/MAG on jigs, following the drawing and the weld symbol given for each joint. The shift opens with the wire, the gas flow and the earth clamp, then tacking, the fill passes and grinding the seam where it will be coated. You check the fit with a square and a weld gauge before the section leaves the jig, stamp your own work and report porosity or undercut to the welding foreman. Work is 07:00-15:00, with a second shift in busy weeks, and Saturday work is voluntary and paid separately.

Promotion terms
Welders who pass the fillet and butt test move to certified section work and to positional welding, which carries a higher rate. The shop pays for the examination and for its renewal at a testing house in Rijeka.
Work environment
A covered hall with an extraction arm at every bay, plus section work outdoors under a canopy when the weather allows. Noise, sparks and grinding dust are constant, so hearing protection and a helmet are worn at all times.
