A steel fabrication shop in Ostrava Marianske Hory is taking on MIG and MAG welders for gratings, platforms and hall frames. The work is for contractors in Moravia and for export to Poland and Slovakia. The contract is permanent and the welding ticket is paid by the employer.
About role
You weld steel from three to twenty millimetres in MIG and MAG on jigs, following the drawing and the weld symbol given for each joint. The shift starts with a check of the wire, the gas flow and the earth clamp, then tacking, the fill passes and grinding where the seam will be painted. You measure the frame with a tape and a square before it leaves the jig, stamp your own work and report porosity to the welding foreman. Two shifts run 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.
Who's a fit?
Trade certificate in welding or metalwork, or equal practice
At least two years in MIG or MAG on steel above three millimetres
Welding ticket to EN ISO 9606-1, or willingness to sit it
Reading a fabrication drawing and weld symbols
Steady with an angle grinder, a square and a tape
Willing to rotate the morning and the afternoon shift

Promotion terms
Welders who pass the fillet and butt test move to the structural team and to certified work within a year. The shop pays for the examination at a testing house in Ostrava.
Work environment
A covered hall with a fume extraction arm at every booth, welding screens between the bays and a separate grinding corner. Mask, leather apron, gloves and safety shoes are mandatory and supplied by the employer.
