Building Painter

You prepare and paint interior walls and ceilings: covering floors and frames, filling cracks and screw holes, sanding the filler back, priming absorbent surfaces and rolling two coats of dispersion paint. Facade work in the warm months covers render repairs, a base coat and a silicone top coat from the scaffold. You mix tints to the sample, hold the wet edge on long walls, and clean the tools and the room at the end of every flat. A crew of four works from a flat list under the site leader, 07:00 to 15:00 Monday to Friday.

Trade school as a painter or three years of finishing work

Permanent contract after a three month trial

Painters who take on decorative finishes and spray application are paid a step above the roller rate, and the firm covers the course at the trade centre in Celje.

Mostly indoor work in flats and stairwells with dust sheets and portable lighting, and facade work from a scaffold in the warm months. Gloves, goggles, a dust mask and safety boots are supplied.
