You set the sheet or the panel to the line, screw it to the purlin with the given spacing and washer, and keep the overlap on the side the rain runs from. The tin work follows: gutters, ridge, eaves flashing, wall trim and the collars around vents and roof lights. Everything above two metres is done on the safety line with the harness clipped to the anchor, and the line is set before the first sheet goes up. Materials come up on the telehandler, and you clear the roof of offcuts and screws at the end of every day.

Roofers who take the anchor and line setting on themselves become the safety lead on the roof, which carries a supplement. The firm pays the course for working at height with a rope access module.

Open roofs from six to fourteen metres, hot in July and windy in the autumn, so the day starts at six in summer. Harness, helmet with a chin strap, gloves and non slip boots are the rule on every roof.
