A construction firm working on apartment buildings in Novi Sad is taking on formwork carpenters. The crews set wall and slab formwork from a system panel kit and strip it once the concrete has cured. The contract is permanent with a paid trial month.
About role
You set panels to the marked line, fit props and beams under the slab, tie the wall formwork with waler bars and check the plumb and the diagonal before the pour. During the pour you watch the panels for movement and keep the ties tight. Once the concrete has cured you strip the panels, clean and oil them and stack them for the next floor. Work runs 07:00-15:30, the site engineer marks the setting out each morning, and Saturdays are agreed a week ahead.
Who's a fit?
Trade school for a carpenter or equal practice on site
At least two years on system formwork
Reading a formwork plan and a setting out drawing
Work with a level, a plumb line and a tape
Safe work at height and on a scaffold
Willing to work outdoors through the season
Basic English for panel markings and manuals

Promotion terms
Carpenters who set a floor without a correction take over the formwork crew, and the firm pays for the course on climbing formwork used on taller blocks.
Work environment
Work is outdoors on the structure, with panels lifted by tower crane and props carried by hand. A helmet, gloves, a harness at open edges and safety shoes are supplied.
