Terminal Worker

You unload incoming trailers, scan and sort pallets and parcels to the right outbound lane, and load the distribution trucks against the loading list so that the first drop stands nearest the door. Damaged goods are photographed, set aside and registered in the system. The terminal works to fixed departure times, so the pace is set by the timetable. Shifts are 05:00 to 13:30 and 13:30 to 22:00 with a weekly rotation.

Completed compulsory schooling, no terminal certificate required

Some experience of terminal, warehouse or port work

Able to read a loading list and scan against a shipment number

Steady lifting of parcels up to 25 kg through a full shift

Willing to start at 05:00 and to rotate two shifts weekly

Basic English, since continental freight papers are in English

Forklift licence TLP10 is an advantage, training is paid

Net salary from 2270 up to 2497 EUR per month

Permanent contract under the transport collective agreement

Terminal workers who take the forklift licence move to trailer loading with a truck, and the terminal recruits its shift leaders from the sorting floor.

A terminal hall with open dock doors, so the work is cold and draughty in winter and noisy from truck traffic. High visibility clothing, safety shoes, gloves and ear protection are mandatory and supplied.
