Construction Carpenter

You set out and assemble formwork for slabs and stairs, build timber stud walls and roof structures to the drawing, and fit doors, skirting and stair treads on the finishing contracts. You cut on a circular saw and a mitre saw, fix with a nail gun and check level and plumb on every element before it is closed in. Materials are ordered a week ahead through the foreman. The working day is 08:00-17:00 on weekdays, with travel to a district site paid as working time.

Vocational certificate in carpentry or joinery, or equal practice

At least two years on site building formwork or timber frames

Reading a construction drawing and a cutting list without help

Safe use of a circular saw, a mitre saw and a nail gun

Own hand tools an advantage, power tools are provided

Basic Latvian or Russian for the daily briefing on site

Net salary from 1007 up to 1108 EUR per month

Permanent contract with full state insurance from the first day

Travel to a site outside the city paid as working time

Four calendar weeks of paid annual leave

Accident insurance from the first day of the contract

Power tools, consumables and a lockable site container provided

Work clothing, helmet, gloves, safety boots and a rain suit

A carpenter who takes on setting out and material take off for a whole contract moves to the lead carpenter rate and runs a crew of two or three on the smaller jobs.

Sites in the city and the surrounding district, indoors through the winter and outdoors in the warmer months, with a heated site cabin and a lockable tool container. Helmet, gloves and safety boots are mandatory.
