A poultry and meat plant in the Kirtimai food processing zone of Vilnius is hiring operatives for its fresh meat hall. The plant supplies chilled and packed products to retail chains across Lithuania. The contract is open ended and the plant starts early.
About role
You take the carcasses and cuts off the line, trim fat and sinew to the cutting specification and sort the pieces into marked crates. Each crate is weighed, labelled with the batch and the date and moved into the chiller inside the time the plan allows. You steel your knife through the shift, record the room temperature twice a day and clean your station down at the end. The shift is 05:00-13:30 from Monday to Friday.
Who's a fit?
Completed primary school, a butchery certificate is welcome but not required
Valid food handling health certificate, the medical check is paid
Willing to work at four to seven degrees through the shift
Safe knife handling, which the plant trains and tests
Able to start at 05:00 and to lift crates up to 20 kg
Basic Lithuanian or English for the cutting specification and hygiene rules

Promotion terms
Operatives who pass the cutting test move from trimming to full carcass breaking, which carries a higher grade, and the plant pays for the butchery course at a Vilnius vocational school.
Work environment
A tiled cutting hall held at four to seven degrees with a rail system, height adjustable tables and a separate wash down area. A mesh glove, apron, cap, whites and non slip boots are mandatory and are supplied.
