A steel fabrication works in the Naujoji Vilnia industrial district of Vilnius is hiring MIG and MAG welders. The works builds frames, platforms and tanks for industrial customers in Lithuania and Scandinavia. Work is on a single day shift and the contract is open ended.
About role
You read the assembly drawing, set the sheets and profiles in the jig, tack them and check the diagonal before running the full seam. Wire, gas flow and current are set to the welding procedure sheet for the material thickness. After welding you grind the seam, check it visually against the acceptance criteria and mark the piece with your stamp. The shift runs 07:00-15:30 from Monday to Friday.
Who's a fit?
Welding certificate for MIG or MAG, or a trade school diploma
At least two years of practice on structural steel from 3 to 12 mm
Able to read an assembly drawing and a welding symbol
Confident with an angle grinder, a square and a tape measure
Steady work in a jig and care with distortion control
Basic Lithuanian or English for drawings and procedure sheets

Promotion terms
Welders who pass the coded test for pressure work move to the tank shop, which is the higher paid seat. The works also trains its own fitters, so a welder who reads drawings well can take the setting out bench.
Work environment
A heated workshop with welding bays, local fume extraction at every bench and an overhead crane for the heavy frames. A welding helmet, leather jacket, gloves and safety shoes are mandatory and are supplied.
