Furniture Carpenter

You read the cutting list and the fitting drawing, cut panels on the beam saw, band the edges and drill the hinge and shelf holes on the boring machine. At the bench you dry assemble the carcase, check it for square on the diagonal, and fit drawer runners and hinges to the millimetre. On fitting days you level the units on the wall, scribe the panels to an uneven wall and seal the worktop joint. The shift is 07:00-15:30 from Monday to Friday, with fitting days ending when the kitchen is finished.

Vocational certificate as a joiner or furniture carpenter

At least three years at the bench on fitted furniture

Reads a cutting list and a fitting drawing with hardware codes

Confident on a beam saw, an edge bander and a boring machine

Accurate to the millimetre with hinges, runners and handles

Category B licence is useful for fitting days

Basic English for hardware catalogues and machine menus

Net salary from 1235 up to 1358 EUR per month

A carpenter who takes on the setting out and the customer survey moves to the lead fitter seat, which carries the fitting allowance on every job and a say in the workshop schedule.

A heated workshop with extraction at every machine, a dust free assembly bay and racks for finished carcases. Safety shoes, a dust mask and ear protection at the saw are mandatory and supplied by the employer.
