Building Cleaner

You start most days around 6 in the morning, before the offices fill up. The work covers vacuuming open-plan floors, wiping desks and meeting rooms, emptying bins, cleaning kitchenettes and restrooms, and refilling soap and paper. On larger sites you run a scrubber-dryer across the lobby and corridors and use a microfibre system on glass partitions. Some shifts are in office towers near the Messe, others in smaller commercial buildings around the city. You follow a fixed cleaning plan per floor and tick off each area as you finish. The employer trains you on the machines and the chemicals before you handle them on your own.

You begin at 1900 net per month. Once you handle a site on your own and run the machines well, pay moves up to 2200 net. From there you can take on a team-lead spot, planning routes and checking quality for a small crew.

Most of the work is indoors in heated buildings, with some cold early starts on the commute. You usually work alone on your assigned floors but share a break room and a supervisor with the rest of the crew. The pace is steady rather than rushed, and weekends are mostly free.
