CNC Machine Operator
Production & Manufacturing — Sarajevo, Bosnia
P-262 · Functional (B1) · 3 openings
A production company on the outskirts of Sarajevo needs a CNC operator who can read a drawing and keep a machine running clean all shift. Steady work, set hours, and a real chance to move up to setter within a year.
About role
You will run CNC lathes and milling machines that cut metal parts for the auto and machine-building trade. The day starts with loading the program, setting the zero point, and checking the first piece with a caliper and micrometer before the run goes ahead. Through the shift you swap tools when an insert wears, clear chips, top up coolant, and keep an eye on tolerances so the parts stay inside spec. You log what you produce and flag anything that looks off to the setter or the shift lead. Most parts are small to medium batches, so you switch jobs a few times a week rather than running the same part for months. Work is in three shifts that rotate weekly, morning, afternoon, and night.
Who's a fit?
At least 2 years on CNC lathes or mills
Can read technical drawings and GD&T symbols
Confident with caliper, micrometer, and gauges
Knows Fanuc or Siemens control, basic edits at the machine
Understands tool offsets and how to correct wear
B1 English for work instructions and safety signs
Benefits
Help with relocation paperwork and the work permit
Shared accommodation sorted for the first three months
Factory shuttle from the city centre on every shift
Hot meal in the canteen each working day
Private health insurance after the trial period
Promotion terms
You start as an operator and the first goal is to run two machines on your own without a setter standing over you. Hit that and prove you can set up jobs from scratch, and you move to setter, with pay climbing from 740 to 860 net per month. Most people get there inside a year if the work is clean.
Work environment
The shop floor is a modern metalworking hall, well lit, with extraction over the machines and the usual noise of a CNC line, so ear protection is on. It runs warm near the machines in summer and cool in winter, and steel-toe boots plus safety glasses are required at all times. The team is mixed local and foreign workers, and the shift lead speaks both Bosnian and basic English.
