Production Operator

You work one station on a paced line: fitting a part, checking a seam or closing and labelling the carton. Every hour you take a sample off the line and compare it against the boundary sample on the board at your station, and you stop the line if two in a row are outside it. The station is cleaned and handed over at the end of the shift with a written note of anything unusual. Three shifts rotate weekly, 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00.

Finished primary school, no previous plant experience required

Operators who learn three stations become line stand ins, which carries a supplement, and the plant fills its quality control and shift leader posts from that group.
