A general hospital in Altona in west Hamburg is taking on qualified nurses for its internal medicine wards. Each ward has 28 beds and a fixed team with a duty roster six weeks ahead. Permanent contract with full social insurance.
About role
You take over your patient group at handover, plan the care for the shift and carry it out: observation, wound care, catheter and infusion care, mobilisation and support with washing and eating. You give medication against the prescription, document every step in the digital patient record and prepare patients for examinations. You instruct the care assistants in your group and call the doctor on duty when a value leaves the agreed range. Shifts are early, late and night with a six week roster.
Who's a fit?
Three year nursing qualification recognised in Germany, or a running recognition procedure
At least two years on a ward, internal medicine is an advantage
Confident with infusion, wound care and medication administration
Accurate documentation in a digital patient record
Willing to work early, late and night duty in rotation
German at B2 level, required for the professional licence

Net salary from 2500 up to 2750 EUR per month

Promotion terms
Nurses with two years in the house can train as a practice instructor for students or specialise in intensive care, both paid for by the hospital with release from duty.
Work environment
Wards of 28 beds with electric care beds, ceiling hoists in four rooms, a medication room with a dispensing cabinet and a disinfection point at every door. Gloves, aprons and shoes are supplied.
