CNC Machine Operator

You load the blank, set the zero, start the programme and watch the first part through the cycle, listening to the cut and checking chip colour. Every finished piece is measured with a caliper and a micrometer and the readings go on the control sheet. You change the insert when wear shows on the finish, correct the offset at the control and call the programmer for anything that needs an edit to the code. The shop runs 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.

Vocational training in machining, or three years at a CNC machine

Reads a technical drawing with tolerances and surface finish marks

Confident with a caliper, a micrometer and a dial gauge

Knows Fanuc or Heidenhain controls well enough to correct an offset

Willing to rotate morning and afternoon weekly

English at B1 for control menus and tooling catalogues

Residence permit valid for work in Spain

Net salary from 1620 up to 1782 EUR per month

Pay in fourteen instalments, the two extra payments already inside the monthly figure quoted

Afternoon shift supplement paid on top of the figure above

Permanent contract with social security registration from day one

Air conditioned shop and a locker room with showers

Paid course on the control and on tooling at the machine supplier

Work clothing, glasses, gloves and safety shoes provided

Operators who start editing the programme at the control move to setter, and from there to the five axis cell, which is the best paid post in this workshop.

A clean, air conditioned machining shop with enclosed machines, coolant mist extraction and a separate measuring room at twenty degrees. Glasses, gloves and safety shoes are worn on the floor at all times.
